I was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma with 5 young sons who needed me.

I was unable to speak, walk or eat. My diagnosis took me, a born-again believer, from feeling like I was untouchable to being crushed in spirit. Fear, doubt, and pain became a familiar friend - but God showed himself faithful.

A few of my absolute favorites over these past years:
🌟 teaching them to read. With my first, I was excited… and honestly, a little panicked! I didn’t know if I had what it took. We struggled. We tried and tried again. And then one day - it just clicked! With each child after, I’ve had more confidence, more fun, and a deeper trust in the process. (There is still challenges and tears occasionally)

🎨 All the crafts, baking, and science projects - our home bursting with creativity, flour-dusted counters, and bright-eyed curiosity. (this is is also one of the hard parts - all of the messes, projects started, missing tools and spoons 🫠)

🌱 Seeing the boys grow in their interests, passions, and strengths.

⏳ More time together. This has been the greatest gift - time. Time to witness, to listen, to walk alongside. Time to marvel at how God knits our days together in the most beautiful ways.

And now… Year 8, we are SO excited for you! We’ll have a 7th grader, 6th grader, 4th grader, 2nd grader, and 1st grader! 🎯

For those who’ve been following our journey, you know we homeschool year-round—tallying up hours in the summer to give us more flexibility during the official school year for travels, adventures, and just living life. It’s freed us up to do school at our own pace and embody a love for always learning.

We’ve got stacks of books to devour, online electives through Outschool, and dreams of creating a recipe book together for the summer!

This Mother’s Day, I’ve been thinking about how the way we mother… never really ends.

It multiplies.
It echoes.
It becomes the framework our children build their futures on — and their faith too.

I stand here today — mothering my own babes & big kids —
strengthened and equipped
because of the women who came before me.

Because of a line of mothers — my grandmothers, my own sweet mama —
who whispered blessings over their babies,
who prayed in kitchens and bedrooms and quiet corners,
who pleaded with Hashem for strength, peace, and protection…
and passed those blessings down like precious heirlooms.

Even now, more than six years after her passing, I feel my mom’s prayers like a covering.
I see the fruit of her gentleness in the way I comfort my own kids.
I speak words she once spoke to me — and I see my children rise up and carry them too.

It’s a miracle, really…
That love like that never dies.
It just keeps on growing.

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
— Numbers 6:24–26

To every mama sowing seeds you may not see bloom in your lifetime —
keep going.
Your love is a legacy.
And it’s working, generation after generation.

Rebounding has become a regular part of our healing rhythm because of what it actually does:

🌀 Stimulates the lymphatic system — which helps move toxins out of the body
🫀 Boosts circulation and oxygen flow — energizing cells and supporting immune function
🧠 Reduces stress hormones — while increasing endorphins
🪴 Gentle on joints — making it safe for daily movement, even in recovery seasons, and for all ages!

And here’s what we’ve realized: the body is designed to move.

Healing is often physical, yes—but also emotional, relational, and spiritual.

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” – Proverbs 17:22

Scriptures whispered it long before the research proved it: joy, movement, and a hopeful heart are part of real, whole-body healing.

We’re 5 years past a diagnosis that tried to break us—and still here, still hopeful, still jumping.

So if you’re feeling heavy today, take this as your reminder:

Joy heals. Laughter restores. And smiling—even when you don’t feel like it—shifts things.

💛 Healing isn’t always quiet. Sometimes it looks like bouncing, laughing, praising, and smiling until your cheeks hurt. 💛

Somewhere between the “Don’t touch that” and “Don’t climb any higher!”, I realized:

So many of the things I say now, I first heard from my own mama.

She was so sweet, so kind, and endlessly encouraging.

The kind of mama whose words made you feel safe, seen, and deeply loved.

It’s been six years since she passed, but I still feel her love and her words guiding me.

In the gentle reminders.
In the bedtime blessings.
In the way I try to lead our home with love.

To every mama holding the line with love, faith, and a thousand (mostly) gentle reminders you are SO amazing!! YOU GOT THIS!! KEEP GOING!

That first photo is so special to us because it’s from July of 2020: our first trip as a family after Daniel’s cancer diagnosis. It was a trip that had been rescheduled, postponed, and ultimately cancelled due to his condition deteriorating so quickly.

When we finally got to take the trip every single slice of it was beautiful. We snapped this photo at a rest stop: capturing their sweet, tiny faces, so thankful for more time together.

As spring begins and our barren fields begin to sprout and bud with new life, this photo reminds us of how God brought joy and new life after a very dark season🪴☀️💛

Broken bones, birthday bees, and garden dreams 👀👀
That about sums up our spring so far 🐝🌱😅

We’ve been a little quiet on here, but life has been all types of loud.

🐝 Ezekiel turned 11 and became an official beekeeper 🙌🙌he researched and saved for months, assembled and painted his hive, placed his colony (I’ll be sharing a video of that in stories it was so cool!), and is so excited!!

🏡 We had a full house as we had my younger sisters’ kids here for a week while they traveled for their anniversary. We had 10 kids under one roof - we had so much fun and felt so blessed to all be together!

✈️ We flew to Denver and made some unforgettable memories…
🩹 Including Micah breaking his arm while we were there. (He’s healing like a champ 💪🏼 and we are so thankful he is safe- it was a really scary fall!)

🌿 we are back home and are so excited for spring!There’s just something about spring that calls hope to the surface. I was just telling my sweet friend “we survived winter- we made it! We can dream again!” 🙌🏼💛

We are feeling refreshed, strengthened, and focused after an amazing Passover! We remember what God did for His people when He rescued them from Egypt, lifting their burdens with a mighty hand and we remember how we have seen his hand in our lives!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

“In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them.” Psalm 22:4

“So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said.” Acts 27:25

Her family did all of the hard work, helping the mother goats deliver in sub zero weather, drying the babies with a blow dryer and heat lamp through the night, and helping them nurse. We are just here for the snuggles 😍😍

They are SO cute!

Sharing a few big & small things I’m working on in my life lately! Life is made up of the little habits and ways we do the smallest of things.

• sharing my gratitude and praying first thing in the morning (game changer)
• drinking water & @medsolution before coffee 👀👀🫢
• scheduling in 30 minutes of intentional play time or activity with the kids (it usually rolls into more time but it's so important to me to be intentional about this.)
• eating more protein & small meals through the day - I feel so much better when I do this
• being intentional about putting my phone down and looking Daniel and the kids in the eyes when they are talking. I multitask all day but want them to know they have my full attention *working extra hard on this
• making snacks at home & buying less packaged foods (our favorites are muffins, bread, and anything pickled!)
• being grateful - it’s so easy to focus on what needs to be updated, bought, upgraded. I’ve been taking the time and changing my internal dialogue for focus on all of the amazing things I have to be grateful for.
•playing more music in the house, (Daniel is much better at this than me)- it completely shifts the atmosphere in the house and everyone usually starts dancing and singing along. (Pro tip: You can’t hear your kids argue if you crank the music way up 🙃)
• donating things we aren’t using- I tend to hold onto stuff and save it but lately I’ve been bagging up unused books, clothes and kitchen items and donating them.
• more check-ins with Daniel & kids. A friend shared a great game called High, Low, Buffalo - it’s a fun way to connect and talk about the highs and lows of their days.
• reading proverbs morning & evening as a family
• more reading, podcasts, and journaling - for the whole family. Making space to be a little bored and get creative.

These photos are completely DIY. And while not all that special or “high quality” 😬🫠 They are photos we will be able to look back on and remember!

As October closes and November rolls on, as a family we remember:

My beautiful mother, family members birthdays, traveling as a whole family on a plane for the first time, Daniel’s Grandmother and so much more.

Biblically, to remember is an important instruction given to us from God. Whether he’s instructing us to remember the children of Israel’s Exodus from Egypt or to remember the Sabbath. (Ex 20:2)

Sometimes it’s the writer, like King David, asking God to remember his promise to him. (Ps 119:49)

Remembering is essential.

Often as a family instead of watching movies or doom scrolling… Daniel and I cast funny/memorable family photos & videos on the tv screen. For hours we smile, laugh, cry and reflect on times past.

Instagram can sometimes lead us to believe that everything is perfect for everyone else and if we pause just for a moment we can realize that’s just not true. Whether things are going great or not quite where you want to be yet… Take some family photos, look back on old ones and remember how far you’ve come 🙂

Often as a family instead of watching movies or doom scrolling… Daniel and I cast funny/memorable family photos & videos on the tv screen. For hours we smile, laugh, cry and reflect on times past.

Instagram can sometimes lead us to believe that everything is perfect for everyone else and if we pause just for a moment we can realize that’s just not true. Whether things are going great or not quite where you want to be yet… Take some family photos, look back on old ones and remember how far you’ve come 🙂

Entering a new era of parenting 🙌🏼

We usually rotate helpers in the kitchen, having one or two kids help us make a specific meal, but this morning the boys wanted to make breakfast by themselves and I feel like we have just entered a whole new era as a family 😍😍

Because I get to.

When you have a near death experience, whether it’s an accident, a sickness, or unwanted act of violence… having to consider that your life may be over forces you to think about all things you might miss out on doing again.

Walking, running, jumping, eating, laughing, hugging, dancing, singing, adventuring, talking, crying.

Since being wheeled out of that hospital in the summer of 2020,
I have chosen to change the narrative in my thoughts.
I don’t have to exercise… I get to!
I don’t have to eat healthy… I get to!
I don’t have to think positive… I get to! I don’t have to make the most of every moment of every day… I get to!
I don’t have to be a good husband… I get to!
I don’t have to be a good dad… I get to!!

We had such a beautiful summer and are still soaking up as many more breezy warm days as we can.

ALSO we’ve got two boys towering over 5 feet and I’m sure they’ll pass me up any day now. 👀👀

We celebrated Emet turning 5 and Shiloh turning 7 💛💪🏼

Our Family Summer Bucket-list

✔️ sleep on the trampoline

Our 5 boys were away for camp for a week and it was just Daniel, Jubilee and I at home. And let me tell you something… one kid is a LOT of work. 🤪🥲😂

As a mom to interracial children, I am asked all the time where we just got back from vacation because of how “tan” the children are 🙃… I don’t think it’s my place to tell everyone “their dad is Jamaican”… but it made my husband curious.. what color do the children think they are?

We’ve discovered that having systems and charts in place has been a game-changer for us! From keeping everyone on time ⏰ and the house tidy 🧹 to managing homeschooling while nurturing our faith, these tools have helped us thrive as a family. 📚🙏

1️⃣Morning Huddle: Start the day with a quick family meeting to review schedules and goals.

2️⃣ Visual Timetables: Use charts or apps to map out daily activities and assignments. We use google sheets. 😎

3️⃣ Zone Rotations: Assign chore zones and rotate them weekly to keep things fair and interesting. The boys know that when we say “ It’s time for zones” it means it’s time to roll up our sleeves and work together to get the house in order.

4️⃣ Set Timers: Use timers for focused study or chore sessions to maintain productivity. A fun spin is to put a bomb timer 💣 on YouTube or a musical timer

5️⃣ Break Times: Schedule short breaks for snacks, playtime, or prayer to recharge throughout the day.

6️⃣ Reward System: Implement a simple reward system for completing tasks or showing kindness to siblings. A few of our favorites: a reward bin filled with (somewhat) healthy treats, snacks and trinkets, icecream, earning extra game time.

4 years after cancer I still do these 4 things⬇️⬇️

My journey required me to knock on every door 🚪 of opportunity for healing! There was no magic pill or yellow brick road. I wanted to share a few of my favorite daily healing habits.

1. Cold plunge - cold showers, cold pool, ice bath: reduces inflammation, helps flush metabolic waste
2. Sweat! clear your body of toxins, boost energy and improve heart health. 🔑 the main key is to re-hydrate, we love @medsolution for their entire line of minerals. We add minerals to all of the water we drink every day!!
3. Juice - apple, beet, carrot, ginger filled with powerful antioxidants and cancer fighting compounds. Check out my highlight reel called juicing for the recipe!
4. Praise - sing, dance, journal, write thank yous: everything changes when you praise and are grateful, it can decrease pain, improve the immune system and lower high blood pressure.
